Good Morning! Camp is over for 2008 and we had a great time. Those receiving Outstanding Camper awards were Sydnee Scoles, Megan Ritter, Megan Johnson, Jenna Burget, Melissa Finsel, Olivia Crawford, Allie Ferrell, Caitlin Streacker, Samantha Johnson, Marissa Livingston, Jacob Pepple, Mikey Keiffer, Austin Essinger, Jaron Welty, Corey Osborne, and Zach Schiefer.
All counselors did a great job. But those named Outstanding Counselors included Beth James, Nicole Kelbley, Cory Bryan, Travis Glick, Ryan Stamper and Chad Warren. Outstanding CIT was Rachelle Palmer. Congratulations to all of these young people! It was an awesome week of camp.

Jr. Fair Livestock entries are due today. These must be submitted to club advisors who will then turn these in to Nicole by the end of Skill-a-thon today. No exceptions!

The Livestock Skill-a-thon begins today at 1:00 at the Hancock County Fairground. All volunteers should arrive for a brief meeting at 12:30. We should be completed by 6:00.

Susan Rader of McComb and Mitch Wilson of Arlington will be attending State Leadership Camp at 4-H Camp Ohio this week. Speakers include Mike Bartrum (Community Leader and retired Philadelphia Eagles & New England Patriots football player), Ohio Supreme Court Justice Robert Cupp, Stewart Kitchen (OSU Drum Major), and Barry Jolliff (National Team Building Specialist). This camp is sponsored by Farm Bureau.

Tuesday is the Food & Nutrition Judging at the Agricultural Service Center. This judging begins at 9:30 and members are reminded to bring a food item, menu, table setting and cost analysis.

Thursday is the Miscellaneous Project Judging at the First Presbyterian Church. Judging begins at 9:00 in the morning and awards will be announced at approximately 4:15.

State Fair Orientation for Misc. Projects will be at 10:00 on Friday at the Ag Service Center. Orientation for Demonstrations will be at 1:00 in the afternoon.

Saturday is the State General Livestock Judging Contest.

Have a great week!

Good Morning! The next three weeks are really busy with 4-H events taking place. Tomorrow we have our judging for Home Design, Garden and Field Crop projects. The judges will be making home visits for these projects. They will try to follow the order given in the Judging Booklet that was mailed to families in June.

Tomorrow evening is the State Fair Qualifying Horse Show at the Hancock County Fairgrounds. We plan to begin the show at 6:00 p.m. This will be the final opportunity to qualify for State Fair in the horse project area.

Wednesday morning is the Demonstration Contest at the Agricultural Service Center beginning at 9:00 a.m. Pre-registration may be done at our 4-H web site, or calling our office.

A goat clinic will be held on the 9th at the home of Jamie and Teresa Siferd. Jamie has helped a great deal with goat quality assurance and the skill-a-thon over the years. They will be conducting a goat showmanship clinic and assisting members as they prepare for the fair. They also conduct the goat make-up skill-a-thon that same evening. If a member is unable to attend the scheduled goat skill-a-thon, please plan to get that done on Wednesday evening.

Clothing Projects are judged on Thursday at Central Church of Christ. Judging for those projects begin at 9:30 and the Style Revue will start at 3:30. The Style Revue is open for the general public so if you want to see what these young people are sewing, come to Central Church of Christ at 3:30 on Thursday. By the way, we want to thank the church for allowing us to conduct this event in that facility.

Jr. Fair Board meets on Thursday evening at 6:30. They only have a couple meetings before the fair so I’m sure there are lots of things to do. The teens won’t want to miss this meeting.

Congratulations to all of our county representatives to the Regional Health & Safety Speaking Contest. They will all be moving on to compete at the State Fair Contest. Those individuals are Mikayla Brown, Shelby Woodward, Travis Glick, Brooke Woodward and Ryan Stamper. Good Luck to all of these young people.

Our final Camp Counselor/CIT meeting is Friday at 2:00. Several committees are meeting throughout this week, and this is the final large group meeting until we arrive at camp next Monday!
