The Millstream Farmers 4-H Club met Wednesday April 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room at VBHS. The meeting was called to order by President Lacy Allen and began with the pledges. Secretary Amanda Couchot took roll call with 19 members present, 5 excused, and 1 new member Laura Harper joining. The minutes where then read and approved and treasurer Brooke Rehus gave the treasurers report and it was approved. Old business was discussed as the following: dues are $5.00 and should be paid to the treasurer, project books are $5.00 each and can be ordered through Sheila Martinez or can be bought at the Extension Office, candy bars are available to sell for a fund raiser for 4-H camp, this is the last meeting that we will be collecting money for the Easter Rose Sale for the Handicapped Society, and April 12th is the Endowment Dinner/Auction. Congratulations were offered to Alexandra McGrain for being selected to serve on the State Fashion Board and to our 2008 trip winners, Lacy Allen, Alexandra McGrain and Tyler McGrain.
New Business discussed was the county wide litter pick up that will be Saturday April 26. We will be meeting at 9:00 a.m. at Griffiths on CR 140. There will be a pizza party at Litzenberg Memorial Barn from 11:30-1:00 for those helping with litter pick up and reservations need turned in. Junior Fair Updates include Stewardship Awards. There will not be any “E” passes this year. Sr. Fair Board has decided to charge to park inside the fair grounds. The gate by the rabbit barn will be closed. Jr. Fair entries will be due at the July 21st Skill-a-thon. Changes can be made up to August 1. Camp Credit Applications are due May 1. Camp cost is $135 for members, $145 for non-members and is July 14-18. Congratulations was extended to Tyler McGrain for being chosen as the 2nd alternate in Mechanical and Engineering as a State Achievement winner. Event reports were given by members that attended LEAD Conference, Leisure Living Show, and Quality Assurance. The meeting was adjourned and Alexandra McGrain gave a demonstration on Buckeye Leadership Workshop and the Way Back When Toys that she made while she was there. Refreshments were served by Amanda Couchot and Lacy Allen. Our next meeting will be Wednesday April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the VBHS Community Room.
The SoHanCo Livestockers 4-H Club met April 6, 2008. The meeting was called to order by President Cody Light. Mariah Weihrauch led the Pledge of Allegiance and Brett Kloeppel let the 4-H Pledge. Roll call was answered by naming your favorite juice. Members were reminded of 4-H Camp and Quality Assurance dates. Frozen Food orders and enrollment forms need turned in. Members voted for the club to pay for project books. Fair entries need turned in to the advisors by July 13. Hannah Johnson gave a demonstration on how to give a steer or cow an IM shot. A program on Farm Safety was given by Rick Johnson.
The Hancock Hareraisers 4-H Club met April 13, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in McComb. We began with the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Under old business we discussed the the 4-H Endowment Auction which raised over $10,000. We handed out Relay for Life walking schedules and breakfast schedules which will take place May 30 and 31. We also discussed our Flower Sales and our plans for the Fair Booth, with the theme of "Blue Jeans and Country Dreams". We have Litter Pickup on the 26th. Under new business talked about our summer activities and who would like to volunteer for KidFest. Our Heath and Safety committees gave presentations. Project Books were passed out and the club divided into groups to discuss our projects. Refreshments were served. The next meeting will be May 18 at the United Methodist Church in McComb.

Old business was discussed included: dues are $5.00 and should be paid to the treasurer, the Endowment Dinner/Auction, Jr. Fair Updates for Stewardship awards, no E passes this year, and Jr. Fair entries need to be turned into Beth by July 21. Sr. Fair Board changes include a charge to park inside the fair grounds and closing the gate by the rabbit barn. April 26 is the litter pick up with a pizza party following at Litzenberg Memorial Barn from 11:30-1:00. We must put in reservations to go. May 1 Camp Credit applications are due for financial assistance with 4-H Camp. Camp costs this year are $135 for members, $145 for non-members and will be held July 14 -18. A tour of Dietsch’s was mentioned as a learning experience.
New Business discussed was the room maintenance. Two volunteers are needed to set up and clean up the room for each meeting. April 22 from 2:00-6:00 will be the Frozen Food Pick-up. April 29 is Quality Assurance at Cory Rawson High School at 7:00 p.m. May 3 is the March of Dimes Walk; we will meet at Riverside Park at 8:45 a.m. and walk the 2 mile route. The Endowment Dinner/Auction raised around $11,000. We have been invited to have a meeting at the Triple T Bed & Breakfast on TR 215 in Findlay. They offer demonstrations on horse care and handling as well as swimming, wagon rides and a cookout. Members voted unanimously to hold a meeting there. Officer reports were given by Health Officer Emily Ward on the nutritional facts about carrots and by Safety Officer Joshua Ward on bicycle safety. The meeting was adjourned and Lacy Allen gave a demonstration on her baby turkeys and Brett Wilson gave a demonstration on how to give a good interview for judging. Refreshments were served by Brooke and Codi Rehus. Our next meeting will be Wednesday May 7, 6:30 p.m. at the VBHS Community Room.
The Pride of Pleasant 4-H Club met Sunday, April 19, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Brandon and Lori Anspach's house. The meeting was called to order by last years President Emily Anderson. Zach Johnson led the American Pledge while Rachael Shaffer led the 4-H Pledge. We had our initiation of officers. Secretary Alyssa Hunker took roll call which was answered by the members favorite color. There were a total of 12 members present. Emily Anderson read the treasures report which was approved by Zach Johnson and Chelsea Mason.
Old business that was discussed was Quality Assurance dates, Frozen Food Pick-up, Camp Ohio, the fair booth, Spring clean-up and unpaid $5.00 dues. New business discussed was our money making project for this year. We also discussed giving a donation to Andrea Mitchell for future expenses, after she gave us a demonstration at the last meeting. It was unanimously voted to give a donation. The meeting was adjourned by Chelsea Mason and seconded Jacob Allen. Brandon Anspach gave us a demonstration on woodworking. Madison Shaffer helped us play a game of charades for recreation. Chelsea Mason served refreshments. Our next meeting will be at the Anspach's on May 18, at 3:00 p.m. with refreshments by Jacob and Taylor Allen.
The SoHanCo Liverstockers 4-H Club met Sunday, April 20. Cody Light called the meeting to order. Alanna Roth led the 4-H Pledge and Devin Roth led the Pledge of Allegiance. Hannah Johnson gave a report from the last meeting. Alanna gave the health hint. Brett Kloeppel gave a safety hint. Quality Assurance and 4-H shirts were discussed. June 4 is goat weigh-in and camp registrations can be turned in after June 1. Devin gave a demonstration on how the Ohio State Fair became what it is today. Alanna gave a demonstration on how to make a first aid necklace.
The Riverbend 4-H Club met April 16, 2008 at the residence of Celia Harper. Faith LaFleur led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Shelby Fletcher led the 4-H Pledge. Attendance was taken by Mallory Dougherty, secretary, with members answering with their favorite spring sport. Under old business, the club discussed the success of the Leisure Living show and Endowment auction. The candy bar sale, Hancock County spring clean-up, and the March of Dimes March for Babies were also mentioned. In new business, a sewing group called "Needle Works" was announced. It meets the second Monday of each month at the Hancock Country Agricultural Service Center from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. It is open to anyone over the age of nine, regardless of 4-H membership. You can bring any type of sewing or needle-craft project, and receive help if you want. The field trip and service project committees were reminded that ideas are to be presented for a vote at the next meeting. The eagerly-awaited project books were passed out, along with the 2008 member list. The meeting was adjourned with a motion from Corrine Heflinger and a second by Faith LaFleur. Katie Wallace gave a demonstration on how to make a purse from a placemat, and Taylor Tweed showed how to finger-knit. The next meeting is to be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Celia Harper's home.
The His Kids 4-H Club met April 25, 2008 at the Bright Road Church of Christ. There were 14 members present plus two new members for a total of 16 people. Alex Pergram called the meeting to order. Roll call was taken by Laura Campbell with members naming their favorite animal. Alex Pergram led the pledges. Angie Mitchell gave a demonstration about poisons around the house. Alex Pergram gave a demonstration about pet rabbits. Tristan Lucas gave a demonstration about table manners. Mara Sansalone gave a demonstration about choking. Unfinished business included 4-H Camp, the rose sale, L.E.A.D. Conference, My 4-H Career Record Book, and the HEROES 4-H Camp. The HEROES 4-H Camp is Thursday, May 1. New business included Quality Assurance on April 29. Ideas were discussed for a service project for the church. The members were asked which committee they wanted to be on. Recreation was led by Megan Horton. The next meeting will be May 16.
On April 20, 2008 the Gold Star 4-H Club held their third meeting at Orange Township House. The roll call that day was your middle name. Before the meeting started, we picked up trash that was on the side of some nearby roads.
