Ohio State University Extension cooperates with the Ohio Department of Agriculture in providing educational training programs to aid individuals who hope to become licensed pesticide applicators. 

There are two basic applicator categories - commercial or private. 

• A commercial applicator applies pesticides on land owned by someone else and usually for hire. This category  also includes applicators who work for a government agency.  
• Private applicators usually apply pesticides on their own land and produce some type of agricultural commodity.
