What is “Be Healthy Now?”

“Be Healthy Now” is a twelve-week personal health challenge extended to all residents and those who work in Hancock County.

Achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight can provide countless benefits. Most times, this is easier said then done. Studies show that when people work with others to lose weight, their success rates are much higher. This program promotes “healthy competition.”

Who is putting together the Be Healthy Now program?

The idea for the program began with a group of local volunteers who wanted to organize a fun competition for residents of our community that revolves around losing weight, feeling healthier, learning about healthy choices, etc. The effort has several sponsors including Ohio State University Extension, Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay YMCA, The University of Findlay. Findlay City Schools, Hancock County Schools, and Findlay City Health Department.

How much does this cost?

Absolutely nothing! This program is being offered FREE to residents of Hancock County because of generous donations from several area businesses and organizations.

As an extra incentive during the 2008 Be Healthy Now program, each participant received FREE use of the Findlay YMCA during the 12-week program. The YMCA has two state-of-the-art facilities (300 E. Lincoln Street and 1400 Manor Hill Road). (A "Be Healthy Now" registration card was required for admission.)
