Master Gardener Volunteer Program
 MISSION
 The Ohio State University Master Gardener Program provides knowledge to and develops the leadership abilities of volunteers who, in turn, enable others to improve the quality of their lives by enhancing their home and community environments through horticultural education and activities.
 VISION
The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardener Program is a premier statewide network of volunteer education and leadership development; as well as a consumer horticulture education delivery system that maximizes human, material, and natural resources, and values teamwork and excellence in educational programming.

All About our Program . . . 

The Master Gardener Volunteer program in Hancock County is coordinated by Nancy Kronberg ably assisted by a volunteer staff of 36 Master Gardeners. We are available to extend information from the university to the public in the area of horticulture and its related fields, including plant identification, entomology, and plant pathology, so that gardeners can be more efficient in growing plants, and be mindful of environmental stewardship. 

Information is extended via: 

  • Garden Information Line (see specific information below)
  • Identification and diagnosis of plants and plant  problems
  • Newsletters
  • Children's Programs
  • Monthly WFIN Radio Call in program (begins in April)
  • OSU fact sheets and bulletins
  • Volunteer training classes
  • Programs for organized groups, such as garden clubs
  • Public programs 
  • Gardening classes
  • Special events
  • Web sites

Garden Information Line

Our information line is open to Hancock County and surrounding area gardeners who have questions or requests for information. This line is staffed with trained Master Gardener volunteers who can help you or direct you to other sources of information. 

Open April 1st - September 30th
 Mondays   9 am to 12 noon
