Frequently Asked Questions

Why have an endowment, who manages, is it deductible and more . . .

What is a County 4-H Endowment?

County 4-H endowments are permanent funds made possible through memorials, donations, and fundraising events. The gifts are invested permanently through the Ohio 4-H Foundation to generate the maximum interest possible. In Hancock County, the 4-H Advisory Council manages the interest funds that are returned annually.

Why is it necessary to have a County 4-H Endowment?

It is not necessary, but it is immensely helpful to have an endowment fund. County, state and federal budgets are very restricted, and usually cannot be stretched to provide more than the basic necessities. Interest income from county endowments can supplement these budgets in addition to annual contributions to help assist with awards for youth & volunteers, providing added incentives, developing new programs, educational opportunities for youth & volunteers, scholarships, purchasing materials to benefit 4-H programs.
