Teen Opportunities

Check out leadership opportunities for all teens ages 14 and older.

The next club meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 15 from 7 - 8:30 pm at the Hancock County Agricultural Service Center.

Hancock Jr Leadership Club -The Hancock County Jr Leadership club is open to any 4-H members currently in high school (age 14 as of Jan. 1, 2012 - or at least a freshman). They provide teen leadership at many Hancock County 4-H events, and meet monthly for special leadership building activities.

Assist with Cloverbud Program - Contact Cassie if you can help.

Attend Ohio Teen Conference - Teens from all over Ohio are invited to participate in these leadership development opportunities. The 2012 Ohio Teen Conference will be held in conjunction with the Ohio 4-H Volunteer Conference on Saturday, March 10 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Registration is due by February 10 along with a $5 fee.

Apply for the Hancock County 4-H Scholarship - If you are a graduating High School Senior or former Hancock Co. 4-H member who is pursuing higher education then consider applying for one of four $500 scholarships offered annually. Applications are due on or before March 16, 2012. Printed forms are available at the 4-H office or use the online version. If you are submitting online - it is a good idea to follow up to make certain that the submission process worked correctly!

Seek an office within your local 4-H club - Older 4-H members should be providing leadership within their local 4-H club. Even if your participation may be limited because of sports, music or other school/church activities - - you can show leadership by planning and presenting an excellent 4-H demonstration (+ there is an area demonstration contest on June 11th that you could enter), or assume a leadership role with your club booth or a fundraiser. This may allow you to schedule committee meetings around your schedule, and give you greater flexibility to plan and work on the projects throughout the 4-H year.

Take a leadership role in your club's Community Service Project - most local clubs are active in the community through various service projects.  Talk with your advisor about service opportunities and how you might get involved and provide leadership.

L.E.A.D. Conference - Held annually in March, this conference is particularly good for club officers. Adult and youth volunteers are needed for this event - contact the 4-H office.
