Slow Cooker Food Safety
The inviting smell of beef stew or chicken noodle soup can be a wonderful greeting to your family at any time of the year. A slow cooker can make life a little more convenient because by planning ahead . . . you save time later, and it takes less electricity to use a slow cooker than an oven.
Slow cookers are easy to use and produce tasty results. The low heat helps leaner cuts of meat become tender and shrink less.
Keep your meal safe by following these simple steps:
- Begin with a clean cooker, clean utensils, & a clean work area.
- Fill cooker no less than half full, and no more than two-thirds full.
- Always thaw meat or poultry before putting it into the slow cooker.
- Keep the lid in place, removing only to stir the food or check for doneness.
