MGV Service Opportunities

Master Gardener Volunteers are often needed for various programs - at times there may be a link to sign up online - other times, a contact will be listed.

Opportunities in need of Service/Leadership

  • Fridays - 9 a.m. or any time -  Demonstration garden
  • Write an article for Green Thumb Prints - Kay Sidaway is always looking for newsletter articles.
  • Assist with WFIN Phone Club - Hancock MGV's host 'Phone Club' on WFIN 1330AM one day a month.  Contact Barb Phillips if you would be willing to join the team that supports this important community educational outreach.
  • Mugs wanted - Ruth Furiate is in need of mugs for our 'Mugs of Joy' program, so if you have any holiday mugs that you could donate or or come across some this summer, please remember this need.
  • Community Gardens - Missy Saunders of NRCS wants volunteers to help plan & plant community gardens (First Presbyterian Church & The Family Center)
  • Wreath Making Workshops - Cutting Dates = Friday, Nov. 25, 1 pm with rain/snow date of Sunday, Nov. 27 or Monday, Nov. 28; Materials needed: pine cones (baked if possible), dried flowers, holly (with berries if possible), ornamental grasses, euonymus (all varieties), & other interesting greens such as blue spruce, juniper of all kinds, arborvitae of all types, (white pine isn't as popular as these others). Please arrive 15 minutes before start time to help set up.  Workshops are Wed. Nov. 30 5:30 - 7:30 pm; Sunday, Dec. 4 1:30-3:30 pm; and Tuesday, Dec. 6 5:30-7:30 pm. All workshops are at the Findlay-Hancock Co. Public Library.
