The Centers for Disease Control estimates that 86% of the nation’s health care dollar is spent on managing chronic disease, and it is estimated that as many as 1 in 3 American adults will have diabetes by 2050 if present trends continue.

This presentation will provide a glimpse of what diabetes is and the actions that Americans can take to prevent or delay their risk for type 2 diabetes.

Participants will also learn more the Dining with Diabetes program which is coordinated locally by OSU Extension and Blanchard Valley Regional Health System and is forming a class for October 4, 11, & 18.  Two Dining with Diabetes recipes will be featured for participants to sample.

Peg Meents, Program Coordinator for Family and Consumer Sciences and Chantal Singer, dietetic intern from Bluffton University will be leading this program.
