On Monday, April 24, 2017 the Lakeland Leaders went to Mennel Milling flour mill. There were two tour groups led by Dean Metzgar and Blake Lemley. We saw how the kernels were made into flour. They have special machines that grind and shake the kernels into different types of flour. Mennel flour is used in different products such as: Betty Crocker cake mixes, Pillsbury products, Heinz ketchup, breading for Long John Silver's fish, bread for Subway, cookie dough for Dairy Queen and breading for McDonald's chicken along with McDonald's French fry coatings. Mennel makes 1.8 million pounds of flour a day. For an average  truck to fill up with flour it takes five minutes and 54,900 pounds. The groups then had pizza made from the flour.

The next meeting for the Lakeland Leaders will be held on Monday, May 8 2017 at the Arcadia United Methodist Church from 7:00 to 8:30p.m.
